Reasons to Become a Member of NYSCPG

Are you a Professional Geologist in New York State or interested in becoming one?

The New York State Council of Professional Geologists (NYSCPG) representing Professional Geologists throughout NY State, would like to share with you several reasons to join NYSCPG:

• Promote fellowship and networking opportunities for professional geologists and other designated practicing professionals;
• Participate in protecting the public and the environment through advancement of professional geology standards/promoting the ethical and competent practice of geology;
• Contribute to safeguarding the continuation of the profession of geology in NYS. This includes advocating for and providing comments from our members and the profession on legislation and the regulatory policies;
• Stay up to date with information regarding legislation and regulatory changes affecting professional geologists in NY. NYSCPG provides the membership with information through email and web postings. Being a member gets you this information as it is made available to NYSCPG;
• Access continuing education opportunities from the NYSCPG and our affiliates. NYSCPG provides a calendar of upcoming Continuing Education courses for the benefit of our members and the profession;
• Save on registration fees for NYSCPG-sponsored Short Courses and annual conference (Geology Days);
• Grow the profession by connecting via Outreach to NYS-based Geology Licensure Qualifying Programs, prepare the next crop of Professional Geologists for the Real World, and learn about the advantages/ needs of being a Professional Geologist / Define the requirements to take the ASBOG exam, and;
• Provide an opportunity for members to record on their resumes that they are a member of a professional organization and take their profession seriously.
