Non-Member Registration:$30

Artesian groundwater conditions exist within many locations, including Upstate New York. Layers which contain the confined aquifer that produces artesian groundwater are often overlain by soft clayey soil which provides poor foundation support, requiring geotechnical explorations and foundations for heavy structures to extend through the artesian-bearing layer. Traditional geotechnical drilling and sampling methods within these conditions face challenges associated with sample retrieval and borehole stability. Foundations installed through these layers can result in unintended artesian leakage and must consider methods to maintain the integrity of confining layer. A case study will be presented where these conditions were encountered and will describe the methods utilized to control the artesian conditions during the geotechnical exploration and foundation construction phases of the project.

Attendees must keep cameras on, microphones muted, and answer all questions throughout presentation in order to receive credit. Please contact us at support@nyscpg.com if you have questions or concerns.
